When I started BBQCoin, we had to run the entire program locally in order to have a wallet and addresses. There were no website/app for having a wallet, like Phantom. And you had to get the entire blockchain downloaded with it! Sometimes it could take like 10 minutes to load, since the downloads were peer to peer. Also, transactions had to wait for a block. With bitcoin that's 10 minutes. So when you sent some to someone, at worst you had to wait a full 10 minutes to get it validated. I don't know how they do it now, or how Solana does it, but from what I have seen, Solana is quite fast!

I still remember fondly the interview with the WSJ journalist. I was at school when it happened, I think I went outside to take the phone call. It was wild for me, in 2013, to be speaking in english like that, talking about BQC. Then I think my dad went through Paris to find a copy of the WSJ for that exact day, when it came out. It's still unreal to have my name printed on it.
